Fifty-five alleged fraudsters have been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Kwara State capital.
They were arrested on Wednesday at different locations in Offa, Offa Local Government Area of the state, according to Dele Oyewole, the Head of Media and Publicity of the anti-graft agency.
The statement disclosed that they were arrested in a sting operation in their hideouts following credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet-related offences.
Items recovered from the suspects include nine exotic cars, two bikes, laptops, and smartphones as well as charms.
The suspects will be charged in ncourt upon the conclusion of investigations, the statement added.
It was reports that between September 3, and 6, 2024, the commission arrested about 100 persons suspected to be internet fraudsters at different locations within Ilorin city, the state capital.
The latest arrest on Wednesday, involved mostly young men of school age who were smoked out of their hideouts in the early hours of the day.
