In Kwara State, Officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, have Voice out over poor welfare. They complained about backlog of promotion arrears (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) while the 2023 promoted officers have not been placed on the payroll till date And the situation is affecting their morale and productivity.
They also complained that “another big problem is that of IPPIS corrupt practices”.
“For almost a year now nobody had access to his IPPIS platform page where you can check your salary package, what comes in and what goes out on monthly basis.
“This is the only platform that will show you the analysis of your salary like payslips.”
They alleged that “palliative allowance was paid for three months only, while other agencies got more than three months and up to date nobody can ask questions.”
According to them, there are no functional patrol vehicles in most state commands for effective operations, a development which they said has impacted negatively on their performance.
Other grievances listed by some of the officers, who preferred anonymity, include peculiar allowances which have not been implemented up to date
They noted that their counterparts in the Nigerian police Force, Directorate of State Security, DSS, and others under the Federal Ministry of Interior, have had theirs implemented since 2022.
“Consequential Salary Adjustment was not implemented as well and till date there is no information about when it will be paid.
“New minimum wage was not implemented too and we can’t ask questions because if you do, it may cost you your job or punishment in form of transfer,” they added.
while senior officers are paid peanuts during elections compared to their counterparts in the Police and other security agencies, “they (officers) also
pay for training organized for them by the Corps management instead of them being paid training/course allowances especially armed training programs”.
“There is no provision for uniform and other accoutrements of office. We buy all the materials used for our uniforms and boots from the market without compensation.
“No provision for transportation fare, accommodations or DTA whenever officers are invited to National Headquarters or other locations for any official assignment/functions.
“Unlike in other security agencies, officers were transferred enmasse in 2022 to different states without inconvenience allowances.
“Senior officers (DCCs & ACCs) are not given portfolios from the headquarters, rather they are left at the mercy of their state commandants, who always maltreat them like rank & file.
“In other agencies like the NPF, Customs Service, NDLEA, FRSC and Federal Fire Service, their DC and AC are usually deployed from their national headquarters with portfolio to state commands and other formations across the nation,” The Aggrieved Officers Added.
