The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has rescued Fauziyah Muhammed, a 19-year-old student of Abubakar Audu University, Ayangba, Kogi State.
Fauziyah, a 400-level English Education student, was found wandering naked in Ilorin, Kwara State, after being kidnapped and hypnotized in Ayangba on Sunday morning.
The NSCDC Commandant in Kwara, Dr. Umar Muhammed, explained that residents of the Ajegunle-Isale community on Egbejila Road discovered Fauziyah on Monday morning and handed her over to the Corps.
“Fauziyah was wandering about the community naked,” he said. “She is no longer coherent in speech, suggesting the horrible experiences she endured while with her abductors. Good Samaritans provided her with clothes, and we are doing our best to comfort her.”
Dr. Muhammed added that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had been informed of the situation and promised support. “The governor has offered fuel to assist us in returning her to Kogi tomorrow,” the commandant stated
When interviewed, Fauziyah expressed confusion about how she ended up in Kwara. She recalled, “One of the books I carried dropped, and as I made to pick it, I lost consciousness.”
The NSCDC is set to release her to her family, represented by her uncle, Mallam Salihu Aliu.
In another development, the NSCDC arrested Abu Usman Soja, suspected to be an informant for kidnappers who abducted a woman and her two children in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, on November 7.
Dr. Muhammed disclosed, “The kidnappers demanded a ransom of N50 million but later reduced it to N15 million. The mother has been released, but the children remain in captivity as the kidnappers have fled into the forest.”
Efforts to rescue the children and apprehend the kidnappers are ongoing.
