An update and pictures of the reconstruction of the 45.3 km Saki-Ogbooro-Igboho Road project. The Saki-Ogbooro-Igboho Road reconstruction project was officially flagged off by
Governor Seyi Makinde on 31 May 2021 after commencing in February 2021. The project is well behind schedule but received a boost in October 2024 when the Oyo State Executive Council approved a review of the contract sum to N16.9 billion due to the rising cost of construction materials and to ensure a speedier completion of the project.
The Saki-Ogbooro-Igboho Road reconstruction project is being executed by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) Nigeria Ltd. This road is crucial for the socio-economic development of the Oke Ogun Zone, connecting three key Local Government Areas: Saki West, Saki East, and Oorelope. During his campaign on 25 January 2023, Governor Makinde announced plans to extend the road project from Igbeti to Kisi.
